La Casa del Abuelo has been recently reopened and is managed by the owners of the well-known hotel La Posada del Arte in Baños, Ecuador. In conjunction with nearby Huillacuna Gallery, they have redecorated, installed new lighting and have filled the walls with original works by Ecuadorian painters. They have also enhanced the yard and porch with wood and stone works by a local Baños sculptor.

The first floor now has a wine bar called "Vino-Terapia," open from 3 to 9:30pm, with a wide selection of South American and European wines.

There are six rooms upstairs, some with views of the waterfall. All have private baths. There is also a large second-floor balcony.

The big front porch and yards are especially suitable for families with children. There is also a secure parking area.
